Ferguson West Ltd is operated by Peter West a specialist in information security and business improvement. Peter is experienced in specialist consultancy with a proven tack record in senior leadership, delivering continuous improvement solutions, inspection and audit; including information security at high risk public sector organisations.

 

Peter's skill set includes: identifying waste and inefficiency using lean management techniques, inspection and reality testing replicating HM government Inspectorate methods, programme and project plan critical review, project management support, risk identification and avoidance, including data management and security.

Peter served for 30 years with Kent Police attaining the rank of Chief Superintendent. During his service he carried out a broad range of operational and organisational responsibilities, performed at a national, regional and local level. These included firearms command, public order, major sporting events, criminal justice and local policing command. He was also seconded to the South Australia Police for a 3 months period. At the end of his police service he went to work for Kent Police for a further 9 years as Head of Continuous Improvement, and latterly Information Security. During this part of his career as a civilian he was heavily involved in organisational change to improve service delivery and  efficiency; corporate governance including audit and inspection, as well as leading Information Security through a period of change and improvement. During the Covid 19 crisis, Peter returned to assist Kent Police as a voluntary consultant, to assist a review of the impact of the epidemic upon working practices, developing lessons learned into longer term business improvement opportunities

Peter is accredited by the Institute of IT as a data protection practitioner including the GDPR conversion accreditation. He is also trained and accredited in Lean Management with Cardiff University, and has been trained and accredited in PRINCE 2 Project management techniques.
